Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing creates colorful and vibrantly detailed t-shirt designs. However, to keep your t-shirt durable and bright over time, you need to take care of it properly. Here are some simple tips to keep your DTG printed t-shirt looking like new.
1. How to Wash DTG Printed T-Shirts
Turn the shirt inside out before washing. This helps protect the ink from friction and reduces the risk of peeling or fading.
Wash in cold water (below 30°C)Hot water can cause the ink to fade faster and cause the fabric to shrink. Washing in cold water helps the shirt last longer.
Choose a gentle wash cycleUse a gentle wash cycle or hand wash to reduce friction on the shirt. If possible, you should put the shirt in a laundry bag for better protection.
Use a mild detergent that does not contain harsh chemicals. Harsh chemicals such as bleach or fabric softener can damage the print. It is best to choose a liquid detergent because it is easier to dissolve and less abrasive.
Avoid using bleach. Bleach not only fades the print but also weakens the fabric fibers, causing the shirt to deteriorate quickly.
2. How to Dry and Dry
Dry the shirt naturally. Dry the shirt in a cool place, away from direct sunlight because UV rays can fade the print. It is best to dry the shirt on a hanger or horizontal drying rack to keep the shape of the shirt.
Limit the use of a dryer. If you need to use a dryer, choose a low heat setting to avoid shrinking the shirt or damaging the print. However, drying naturally is still the best way.
Avoid drying shirts on top of each other. Dry the shirts separately to ensure they are not damp, helping the fabric dry evenly and not wrinkle.
3. How to Iron DTG Printed T-Shirts
Iron the inside of the shirtAvoid ironing directly on the print as high temperatures can cause the ink to crack or peel off.
Use low heat and do not use steamIroning at low heat will prevent the shirt from burning or damaging the ink layer. If necessary, place a thin layer of cloth over the print before ironing.
4. Additional Notes
Do not expose the shirt to direct sunlight for too long: Before washing or wearing, avoid leaving the shirt in the sun for too long to limit fading.
Store the shirt properly: When not in use, fold the shirt gently and store it in a cool, dry place. Avoid stacking too many shirts on top of each other in the printed area.
Handle stains quickly: If the shirt gets dirty, clean it immediately with cold water and a mild detergent. Avoid rubbing the print.
Check the shirt regularly: Check the shirt regularly to detect early signs of fading or peeling and take timely protection measures.
By following these tips, you can keep your DTG printed T-shirts looking as good as new for a long time. Take proper care of them to enjoy your favorite designs for longer!.
